Doorgeschoten

by Maarten Kolk

Year: 2006

The concept of the book 'doorgeschoten' is founed out of Maartens fascination of vegetable gardens and the thought that common things often are seen as obvious. THe book is his final piece for the design academy in Eindhoven.

'Everyone consumes vegetables everyday, but the origin and the growth is still a mystery for many. For Doorgeschoten, I let myself be inspired by the daily developments at my vegetable garden. I observed and wrote down my findings. I, for example, registered the interleave of vegetables through the eyes of a designer. Out of this conceptual approach, I tried to centre the unexpected beauty and amazing colouring and shapes that hides within the growth of vegetables.
